I had the pleasure of hanging out with one of my favorite Italian families, The Pepe's, on this holiday day. Pumpkin picking was a bust so I asked Sam if she would show me her super secret family recipe for "Quick Gravy with Meatballs". For those of you who do not know what gravy is, it's tomato sauce. (I had to learn that the hard way...by asking Sam and getting the "which rock did you just crawl out from under?" look.)
While I cannot share the recipe today (too secret) I did post some pictures and it was a delightful and delicious learning session for me. What I was hoping with this post was to inspire you to get to know your friends a little better through cooking and sharing of their favorite famliy meals. Spending the day in the kitchen with a good friend? Not many things can trump that. And if your kids get along, life is bliss.
